Browsing the site
Pages, styles, scripts and illustrations are requested from the website's hosting infrastructure. Serving those requests involves technical information such as an IP address, requested address, browser information and request time. Hosting providers may record this information for delivery, security and troubleshooting. The site does not require a user account.
The supplied site code contains no advertising pixels, analytics libraries, third-party embeds or cross-site tracking scripts. Images and other page assets use local paths. Following an external link is a separate interaction with that website and is subject to its own policies.
Message preparation happens locally
The Route Ideas tool constructs plain text in your browser. Its preview, copy and download functions do not submit the entered information to a server. The tool does not write your draft to cookies or localStorage. Your browser may independently provide autofill, restore fields or retain history according to your settings.
Copying puts the prepared message on your device's clipboard if permission is available. Downloading creates a text file on your device. Those copies remain under your control; clipboard managers, device backups or other software may handle them according to their own settings. Avoid entering sensitive information on a shared device.
If you choose to email
Sending an email is separate from using the local tool. An email you send may include your address, name, message and ordinary email metadata. Correspondence is used to respond, evaluate a route suggestion, review a correction or handle a related administrative or legal issue. Email services necessarily process delivery information.
Provide only information relevant to your enquiry. We do not need passport details, payment information, private booking references or a precise account of your future whereabouts. If suggesting an editorial change, a public source and the affected page are usually enough.
Retention and disclosure
Correspondence should be retained only for as long as reasonably needed to handle the enquiry, maintain a relevant editorial record or meet applicable obligations. There is no fixed retention period promised for every category. Technical logging and email infrastructure may have their own retention settings.
Information may need to be handled by providers supporting hosting or email delivery, or disclosed where required by applicable law. Personal contact details are not needed in published route suggestions and should not be included in public material without an appropriate basis.
Your choices and requests
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or other handling of personal information. Contact the address above with enough detail to identify the relevant correspondence, but do not send identity documents unless a secure and necessary verification process has been agreed. Rights may be subject to legal exceptions.
You can also manage browser storage and downloaded files on your own device. See the Cookie Notice for the storage behaviour of the supplied site code. If applicable, you may raise concerns with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this notice
If site functionality or data handling changes, this notice should be updated to describe the actual service. Review it before providing information if your concern depends on a particular practice.
